For this project our clients didn’t have a particular design in mind, rather a ‘feel’ they wanted to achieve. Our clients approached us with a project that was weighing heavily on their mind. Their backyard required a lot of constant ongoing work, with plants and trees that required trimming every couple of weeks. Unfortunately, this hardworking professional couple were unable to give the garden the attention it needed, and it became overwhelming as it grew into what resembled a forest. The vision was to create a low maintenance space for our clients to relax in and enjoy with their children and grandchildren.
These clients had tried to tackle this project once before, unfortunately, the original builder had pulled the wool over their eyes, only to create a deck that looked new, but was not up to safety standards with new decking being placed over rotting bracing and additional structural supports that were floating above ground.
The deck had a blackberry growing underneath which was unable to be reached and removed, and the garden had dense fast growing shrubbery resembling a tiny forest. Our mission involved a number of stages, completely clearing and evening out the entire area, replacing all boundary fences, and last but not least, the re-design and completion of the new backyard!
When discussing the plan for the new backyard, we made a list with our clients of needs and wants, and were able to design a backyard that was more than our clients could have ever imagined. A swimming pool area was one of the things our clients had always dreamed of having, with the cost being a factor of why they just couldn’t justify it.
Our solution was to utilize the above ground pool our clients already had, and build a spectacular raised deck to house it! We redesigned the space to create an outside area where they can enjoy a cup of coffee while watching their grandkids play on the back lawn, and plant veges in their very own raised gardens. The client finally has a backyard they are proud of, that promotes family bonding and creates peace of mind.
